A Message from Administration

Dear Hickory Tree Families,

As we head into Thanksgiving Break and get ready to return in December, our hearts are overflowing with gratitude. Hickory Tree is a special place because of the people who fill it; our teachers, staff, students, PTA, and our incredible families. THANK YOU for your constant support, your involvement, your kindness, and for entrusting us with your amazing Hawk students every day.

This week was a whirlwind of joy and celebration between Hawk of the Month, the Choice Fair, and of course the Color Run! WOW! What a week! Our students shined, our families showed up, and our community came together in true Hickory Tree Elementary fashion.

We hope you enjoy a restful, fun-filled, family-centered Thanksgiving Break. Take time to relax, recharge, and make memories with the people you love. We are so thankful for all of you; your partnership is what makes Hickory Tree the BEST school in SDOC and the A-school we proudly strive to be.

And we want to express an extra special and heartfelt THANK YOU to Ms. Emily Simmons, who generously treated our entire HTES staff to a delicious Thanksgiving meal. Your kindness truly warmed our hearts, and our staff enjoyed every bite! Thank you for supporting us in such a thoughtful way.

From our Hawk family to yours, we wish you a beautiful, restful, joyful Thanksgiving Break.
We are grateful for your children, for your partnership, and for the privilege of serving this incredible community.

Thank you for being part of Hawk Family---where we grow, learn, soar, and shine together. 🦅❤️

With gratitude,
Ms. Miller and Ms. Vargas

A Huge Thank You to Our PTA & APEX Team!

What an incredible two weeks we had with our APEX leadership program and our Color Run! Through your generosity and enthusiasm, we raised an amazing amount of money that will go directly toward campus beautification and continued improvements that make Hickory Tree the best place to be.

Our students spent the week learning about leadership, respect, resilience, goal-setting, and teamwork—all while having an absolute BLAST at the Color Run! The smiles, the color, the laughter, the friendships, the fun… it was pure Hawk magic. 🌈🦅

A BIG thank you to our PTA, our APEX team, our volunteers, and YOU, our families, for always supporting our school community.

We can’t wait for our upcoming PTA/school events:

  • Holiday Shoppe – coming in December!
  • Holiday Night – Wednesday, December 10th
  • These events help keep our families connected and our school spirit strong!

At Hickory Tree, we don’t just add color to our days—we RUN with it! 🎨🏃‍♂️💨

📝 PM2 Testing Information

When we return from Thanksgiving Break, all students will take their PM2 State Progress Monitoring assessments:

  • Week 1: Reading
  • Week 2: Math

Each teacher has already reviewed individual goals with students. These goals are personalized, based on the student’s level and expected growth. Students who meet their PM2 goal—and those who increase a level or earn proficiency—will receive special incentives and recognition!

Please help your Hawk by encouraging:

  • A good night’s sleep
  • A healthy breakfast
  • Taking their time, trying their best, and using their strategies
  • Extra practice on Progress Learning—the more they use it, the more ready they will be!

Let’s show everyone what our amazing Hawks can do! 💪🦅
