A Message from Administration

Hickory Tree Families,

What an incredible week at “The Tree”! Our annual Rock Your School event was an unforgettable experience filled with energy, creativity, and joy. We are so grateful to our families for your continued support and participation. From sending in supplies, cheering on your children, and joining us for the family night; your involvement truly made the difference.

Our teachers and staff went above and beyond transforming classrooms into immersive learning spaces that were not only fun but also connected to academic standards. Students solved problems, collaborated with peers, and showed off their critical-thinking skills while learning in extraordinary ways.

A very special thank-you goes out to our PTA for helping make this event possible and to Ms. Thomas for the hours of planning and leadership that ensured its success. We are so proud of what we accomplished together as a school family!

End of Quarter Reminder
This week marks the last week of the first quarter. Please take a moment to sit down with your child to:

  • Review their grades and progress in the parent portal.
  • Talk through goals for the upcoming quarter.
  • Celebrate successes and identify areas for growth.

Through the portal, you can also monitor discipline records and progress reports to stay connected to your child’s journey. Setting goals together builds responsibility, ownership, and motivation for success.

Have a wonderful weekend with your family! We look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday for another great week at HTES!

With gratitude,
Ms. Miller and Ms. Vargas

🏫 Reminder: Respecting Our Campus
Families, we need your help. Recently, we’ve had some issues in the group restrooms at the ends of our buildings—students have been pulling out large amounts of paper towels, clogging toilets, or even wetting paper towels and sticking them to walls, floors, or ceilings.

Please talk with your child about the importance of caring for our school property. At 41 years old, HTES is our “daytime home,” and we want every student to enjoy a clean, safe, and well-kept environment. Your partnership means the world to us—we appreciate your support in reminding students to respect our campus.

FORTIFY FL: See something, Say something
Remind students that if they see or hear something suspicious unsafe, or dangerous, they can use the FortifyFL App located on their school computer.

ROCK YOUR SCHOOL WAS AMAZING!

🌟SPOTLIGHT ON CAMPUS: 2025 ROCK YOUR SCHOOL!

Our Rock Your School event was nothing short of extraordinary! From the moment students walked through the doors, they were immersed in a world where learning and excitement came alive. Classrooms were transformed into themed adventures with spaces that captured students’ imaginations and connected directly to the standards they are learning. Students solved mysteries, traveled through history, explored outer space, and even tackled real-world challenges, all while collaborating with their peers and applying critical thinking skills. Teachers and staff wore costumes to match their classroom themes, adding even more energy and joy to the day. Throughout campus, students enjoyed themed snacks and entertainment that kept the momentum high. Every detail, from the decorations to the lessons, was carefully planned to create an unforgettable, hands-on learning experience that students will remember long after the day ended.

PTA volunteers and Ms. Thomas went above and beyond to coordinate, prepare, and support this year’s Rock Your School event. Their dedication, creativity, and passion helped make this tradition possible. Of course, none of this would have been possible without the incredible effort of every teacher and staff member who spent countless hours preparing and planning to make the day meaningful and magical for our students.

Parents, we invite you to check out the pictures and videos shared by your child’s teacher and on our social media pages—you’ll see firsthand the joy, wonder, and hard work that went into creating this event. Rock Your School was a shining example of how at Hickory Tree Elementary, learning truly rocks!
