A Message from Administration

Dear Hickory Tree Families,

Thank you for another wonderful week at Hickory Tree! We are so grateful for your support and for attending our first awards ceremony of the school year. It was such a joy to celebrate the amazing Quarter 1 accomplishments of our students. We are already seeing tremendous growth as students take ownership of their learning and set new goals, and we look forward to recognizing even more Hawks during our Quarter 2 awards!

Don't forget that our quarter 1 report cards went home with students yesterday (10/24) and are also posted in the Focus Parent Portal.
Report cards are a great opportunity to sit down with your child and reflect on their progress so far. Ask them what they are proud of and where they see opportunities for growth. Partner with your child’s teacher to set clear goals and expectations for Quarter 2. Remember, Varsity Tutoring is available to all Hickory Tree students free of charge—a great way to get extra support in areas of need.

As always, thank you for being such an incredible support to our school, our staff, our teachers, and most importantly, our students! It's takes a village, and we are thankful to have each of you as part of the HTES village!

Have a great weekend Hawk Families! See you ready for learning on Monda morning as we wrap up the month of October!

With gratitude,
Ms. Miller and Ms. Vargas

STAR Progress Monitoring Conversations
These past two weeks, students completed their most recent STAR progress monitoring assessments in reading and math. These assessments show both proficiency levels and growth since the beginning of the school year. Please take a few minutes to talk with your child about their results:

  • Celebrate their strengths and the progress they’ve made.
  • Discuss areas for improvement and encourage a growth mindset.
  • Ask about the goals they set with their teacher.

Our teachers are reviewing this data with students and making plans to ensure continued growth leading into the PM2 state assessment in December. With your support at home and our strong teaching in the classroom, we know our Hawks will soar!

REMINDER:
DON'T FORGET TO JOIN US FOR OUR VILLAGE INN SPIRIT NIGHT ON SATURDAY 10/25 FROM 5-9PM.
WHEN: TUESDAY 10/25 FROM 5-9pm
MENTION HICKORY TREE ELEMENTARY WITH YOUR PURCHASE.

🦅 Behavior & Safety Reminder
If you have not already done so....Please take a moment to talk with your child about the following:
  • If you see or hear something unsafe or inappropriate, report it immediately to any adult on campus.
  • Bathroom etiquette matters—treat our facilities with respect and use them appropriately.
  • Keep hands to yourself unless helping someone in a safe way.
  • No play fighting or horseplay. Even if it seems harmless, it can quickly turn into something more serious.

ALWAYS LEARNING AT "THE TREE!"

Spotlight on Learning: Teacher Highlights
Every week, we see so many amazing things happening in classrooms that it’s hard to choose just a few to share! Here are some highlights from this week’s “Brewtiful Moments” at The Tree:

  • Ms. Bunofsky is helping students become true owners of their learning with data binders and exit tickets. Students know exactly where they stand and what they need to work on, and she jumps right in with support when needed.
  • Ms. Bullock and Ms. Castro are making sure no learning time is wasted by pulling small groups right at their tables for immediate help while other students work independently. Every child gets exactly what they need to grow.
  • Ms. Krick is using small group instruction alongside digital tools that allow her to see student work in real time. This keeps her class engaged and accountable while she provides focused support.
  • Ms. Gembutis is leading powerful student data chats, guiding students to reflect on their progress, set new goals, and view mistakes as opportunities for growth.

These moments are just a snapshot of the incredible teaching and learning happening at Hickory Tree each and every day. We are so proud of our teachers for their dedication, creativity, and commitment to helping every Hawk soar!

MULTICULTURAL NIGHT SUCCESS
Thank you for attending our first annual Multicultural night this past week. It was incredible to see the support from each of you and to celebrate the diversity that makes up Hickory Tree Elementary. Students did an incredible job showcasing their work and performances. Thank you to all who came out to help, support, and share a bit about your culture with us. Together, we are an unstoppable community!
