A Message from Administration

Dear Hickory Tree Families,

As we move through the second half of the school year, I want to thank you for your continued partnership, encouragement, and support. Our students are working hard each day, setting goals, and showing growth across classrooms, and that success is truly a team effort between home and school. Join us Tuesday at 4:00pm at our monthly SAC meeting to hear all about what is going on at Hickory Tree as well as what is to come. At the meeting we will discuss progress in relation to our goals and upcoming initiatives to ensure that Hickory Tree not only meets our goals but surpasses them. 

These next coming weeks are filled with exciting opportunities to celebrate learning and achievement at Hickory Tree. From hands-on science experiences for the whole family to recognizing our students’ academic accomplishments, we are proud of the incredible things happening here every day. Be sure to get OASIS approved and come volunteer on campus during the day and at all our wonderful events. It takes a village, and we are glad that you are part of ours!

Thank you for being such an important part of our school community. We look forward to welcoming many of you on campus this week! Thank you again for your continued support of Hickory Tree Elementary. Together, we are helping our students soar in all areas. HAWKS SOAR!!!

🤝 School Advisory Council (SAC) Meeting – January 20th
We invite all families to join us for our upcoming School Advisory Council (SAC) meeting on Tuesday, January 20th at 4:00 PM.

During this meeting, we will:
  • Review midpoint academic data
  • Share school updates
  • Discuss progress toward school goals
  • Collaborate on ways to continue supporting student growth

Science Night
🔬 Science Night – Wednesday, January 28 | 4:30–6:00 PM

We are thrilled to invite all Hickory Tree families to Science Night this Wednesday, January 28, from 4:30–6:00 PM, right here on campus! This exciting evening will be presented by the Orlando Science Center and will feature interactive, hands-on science stations designed to spark curiosity and excitement in students of all ages. Thank you to our HTES PTA for sponsoring the event!

Families will have the opportunity to explore, experiment, and learn together through engaging activities led by science professionals. These stations are designed to make science fun, accessible, and memorable—helping students see how science connects to the world around them.

  • Activities designed for elementary students
  • A fun, family-friendly way to support STEM learning
  • An opportunity to learn with your child and spark meaningful conversations at home

Science Night is a wonderful way to celebrate learning beyond the classroom and show students that curiosity, exploration, and discovery matter. We strongly encourage families to attend and enjoy this special evening together.

We can’t wait to see our Hawks exploring, questioning, and having fun with science!

Upcoming Honor Roll Celebrations
Quarter 2 officially closed on Friday, and we are excited to share that Quarter 2 report cards will be sent home on Friday, January 23rd. This is a wonderful opportunity to review your child’s progress, celebrate their accomplishments, and discuss goals as we begin Quarter 3.
That same day, we will also host our Quarter 2 Honor Roll Ceremonies, held during grade-level block times. These celebrations recognize students who have demonstrated strong academic achievement and consistent effort throughout the quarter.
Honor Roll Ceremony Schedule – Friday, January 23rd:
  • 8:20–9:15 – 4th Grade
  • 9:15–10:05 – 3rd Grade
  • 10:41–11:31 – 1st Grade
  • 11:34–12:24 – 2nd Grade
  • 12:33–1:23 – Kindergarten
  • 1:25–2:15 – 5th Grade
Please note:
  • Attendance at the ceremony is by invitation only.
  • Invitations are sent to families of students who earned Honor Roll for Quarter 2.
  • To qualify for Honor Roll, students must have earned:
  • All A’s, or
  • All A’s and B’s in core subject areas (block classes are not included),
  • At least one A is required to qualify.
  • Registration must be completed in advance for safety and security purposes. Please be sure to watch for and complete the invitation registration once received.
We are so proud of our students’ hard work and cannot wait to celebrate their achievements! If you have questions about whether your child received an invitation after, please reach out directly to your child’s teacher.
