A Message from Administration

Dear Hawk Families,

We are so proud of our Hickory Tree Hawks! Thank you for your continued support in helping our students soar higher each week. We truly value the strong partnership between home and school, and your commitment does not go unnoticed.

Thank you for checking ParentSquare daily, reviewing student agendas, and communicating so effectively with classroom teachers. A gentle reminder: please reach out to your child’s teacher first if you have questions or concerns, unless it is an emergency. We deeply value and respect the parent–teacher relationship as the first line of communication before reaching out to administration.

Also, please allow 24 business hours for teachers and staff to respond. As a friendly reminder, if you'd like to meet with an administrator, we ask that you schedule a meeting or phone call in advance. Much of our day is pre-scheduled with classroom visits, meetings, and student support. By setting up an appointment (via email, phone call, or a Parent Communication Form at the front office), we can ensure your concerns are addressed efficiently and respectfully without long wait times.

Upcoming Event Information
  • 🎓 College & Career Week is here! Each day has a themed dress-down. Please see the separate message and attached flyer for details.
  • 💰 Penny Wars begin Monday! Send in all your loose change and dollars to help your child’s grade level compete for daily prizes and the overall title. All proceeds go right back to benefit each grade level. Let’s see which team will claim bragging rights—our Hawks love a little friendly competition!
  • 📊 Progress Reports will be posted Friday in the Parent Portal. Please take time to review your child’s grades, encourage them to complete assignments, and celebrate their efforts. If you see areas for growth, reach out to your child’s teacher for guidance on how to support at home.

We appreciate everything you do to partner with us in your child’s success. Here’s to another fantastic week of learning, teamwork, and Hawk pride!

With gratitude,
Ms. Miller and Ms. Vargas

Kindergarten in Action!

🌟 SPOTLIGHT ON LEARNING: Kindergarten🌟
This week we are shining a spotlight on our amazing Kindergarten Hawks! In every classroom, students are learning and practicing important rules, routines, and expectations that set the stage for a successful year. We are so proud of how quickly our youngest learners have adjusted to a "big school" and how well they are following directions, moving smoothly through transitions, and showing respect for their teachers and classmates.
Inside the classroom, we've seen wonderful teaching and learning taking place. Teachers are using a gradual release model where they first model the skill, then students practice together, and finally students have a chance to try it on their own. Students are actively engaged, working with partners and showing, independence during their practice time.
Kindergarten is off to a fantastic start, and we can't wait to see all the growth and excitement ahead this year! Way to go, Kindergarten Hawks!!!
